FAQs
Are all your products non-comedogenic?
Our base products—like our skin tint, concealer, corrector, and highlighter—are formulated and tested to suit acne-prone and sensitive skin.
Some products, such as our lipsticks and glosses, contain richer oils to keep lips comfortable and hydrated. These are meant for the lips, not facial skin, and can be safely used even by people with sensitive or acne-prone skin as long as they’re used on the lips
I have dry skin. Can I use your products?
Yes, ABSOLUTELY! Our makeup works well for all skin types, including dry skin. Every House Of Makeup formula includes skin-boosting ingredients, moisturisers, and emollients to keep skin feeling comfortable, hydrated, and smooth throughout the day, without clogging pores or causing irritation.
Aren’t all oils acne-causing?
It’s natural to think so, many of us do, but here is the clear truth: Not all oils clog pores.
In fact, some, like jojoba oil, are actually very skin-friendly. Jojoba closely mimics the skin’s natural sebum, which is why it’s often well tolerated, even by acne-prone skin.
Similarly, many plant and essential oils used in low, controlled amounts don’t lead to breakouts.
Isn’t silica supposed to clog pores?
No, silica doesn’t clog pores. In fact, it helps absorb excess oil, reduce shine, and improve the overall texture of makeup—making it especially useful for combination and acne-prone skin.
Should I avoid all “comedogenic” ingredients completely?
Let’s be honest here: Comedogenicity isn’t black and white.
It really depends on how much of an ingredient is used and how the formula is balanced overall.
An ingredient that can be problematic at high levels may be perfectly fine and well tolerated by all skin types at low, well-controlled concentrations. That’s why we focus on formulation, not fear-based ingredient lists.
If you have active acne or very sensitive skin, choosing products that are tested to minimise pore clogging is always a good idea. We also recommend consulting a dermatologist, if you really wish to be sure of the products you’re using.
How do you ensure your products are non-comedogenic?
We rigorously assess ingredients for comedogenic risk, formulate within skin-safe concentration limits, and additionally, we support our claims with testing conducted by accredited third-party laboratories
Can makeup still cause breakouts even if it’s non-comedogenic?
Sadly, yes. We wish it were otherwise, but breakouts can also be influenced by multiple variable factors like skincare layering, incomplete makeup removal, hormonal changes, or individual skin sensitivities.Of course, non-comedogenic makeup helps reduce the risk, but good skincare habits and your skin’s natural tendency still matter.
Are your products suitable for sensitive skin?
Our formulas are specially formulated for sensitive skin with hypoallergenic ingredients—we also follow the strictest clean standard out there—The EU Cosmetic standard, that bans over 1300 harmful ingredients. But, if you have very sensitive skin, we still recommend you do a patch test before first use.
Does non-comedogenic mean oil-free?
No. Non-comedogenic doesn’t mean oil-free. It means the product is formulated to minimise pore clogging, which can include lightweight, skin-mimicking oils and emollients used thoughtfully
