The Science Behind It

Why Indian Skin Benefits from
Colour Correction More Than Most

You've applied concealer over your dark circles and ended up with grey, muddy under-eyes. You've layered it on post-acne marks and watched them turn dull instead of disappear. This isn't a concealer problem, it's a colour theory problem. A problem that a good colour corrector can easily fix.

Indian skin possesses two characteristics that make colour correctors genuinely useful and not optional.

The first is melanin. Indian skin is richer in melanin than many other skin types, which means any inflammation, like a pimple, a cut, or sun exposure, leaves behind post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation more readily. The dark marks that stay long after a breakout heals, the shadows around the mouth, the under-eye area that looks bruised on some complexions, these are melanin-related discolourations that a standard concealer cannot cleanly cover.

The second is undertone. Most Indians have warm or olive undertones. When you apply a neutral or beige concealer directly over a blue-purple dark circle, you're layering two colours that don't cancel each other out, they mix. The result is a dull, ashy version of both. More layers of concealer just make it worse.

This is why a colour corrector goes on first. It neutralises the discolouration using the opposing colour on the colour wheel. Once it's neutralised, your concealer finally has an even base to work on and uses far less product to achieve clean coverage.

The Product

Introducing Spot On
Anti-Crease Smoothing Corrector

Spot On Anti-Crease Smoothing Corrector

The Spot On Corrector from House Of Makeup is a colour corrector in a creamy formulation, specially designed to suit diverse Indian skin types, from oily to dry. This easy-to-blend corrector effectively neutralises prominent skin inconsistencies like deep under-eye circles, giving you that perfect, even base for your concealer and foundation.

The most common challenge with under-eye makeup is that it tends to crease or look cakey within a few hours of wear. Spot On was formulated as a direct solution to this. A perfect blend of hydrating and correcting ingredients that correct without settling deeply into the fine lines naturally present under the eye.

Formulated in accordance with EU Clean Cosmetic Standards, no parabens, no sulphates, no harmful ingredients. Plus, it's non-comedogenic, so it won't clog pores or cause breakouts. Available in 3 shades covering fair, fair-to-medium, and medium-to-deep Indian skin tones.

Step By Step

How To Apply
Colour Corrector Correctly

1
Start with skincare & primer

Apply your moisturiser and SPF first. Let them absorb fully before moving on. Colour corrector goes on after skincare and primer, before concealer and foundation.

2
Use less than you think you need

Squeeze out a small amount. Colour correctors are concentrated — a thin layer does the work. Too much creates a new colour problem on top of the original one.

3
Apply only to discoloured areas

Target only the problem zones like your under-eyes, post-acne marks, and redness patches. This is not an all-over product.

4
Blend gently, then let it set

Tap gently with a fingertip or damp sponge. Let it sit for 20–30 seconds before layering anything on top.

5
Layer concealer, then foundation

Apply your Zoom In Concealer on top, then your Face Anything Skin Tint or foundation over that. The corrector underneath creates a neutralised base so that your coverage looks noticeably cleaner.

6
Set with translucent powder

Lock everything in place with a light dusting of powder to prevent creasing throughout the day.

The most common mistake: using too much product. A thick layer of colour corrector doesn't correct more — it creates a new colour problem on top of the original one, and can end up looking cakey and patchy.
